Fogging the Restaurant

Claire and Martine from Brett Cleaning ready for the fogging

As part of our preparation to re-open, we had the entire restaurant de-contaminated and protected against Coronavirus using a service called ‘Fogging’. Carried out by Brett Cleaning Services this involved flooding the entire area with a fine mist that kills all viruses.

The Fogging infection control service causes minimal disruption. Using Formula 429 Plus the spray is food safe, tried, tested, trusted by NHS in the UK for the fight against Coronavirus, e.Coli, MRSA and other infections, bacteria and viruses.

Brett certify their work and we will schedule them for regular Fogging every four weeks as part of our continued protection for all visitors and employees against the virus. See Fogging.

Steak Night

Steak Night Thursday 26 March 2020

As winter slips away and spring begins to show its face (we hope…) what better way to spend a Thursday evening than an exquisite steak dinner.

Our exclusive steaks are sourced from Chandler and Dunn, Ash near Canterbury.

The 28 day aged beef comes from their traditional Sussex cattle. These are native to the South East of England and are a breed renowned for their ability to graze rough pastures and produce a high quality meat which is a naturally succulent, marbled, full of flavour and tender.

We are planning a special menu to showcase these wonderful steaks which will be available shortly as well as opening the evening for bookings.

Watch this space!

New Year – New Menu!

Cosy and intimate bar area

To compliment physical changes to the restaurant, we’re also delighted to launch a completely new seasonal menu.

Featuring five starters and five mains the menu introduces some unique tastes for Deal along side our traditional favourites.

The emphasis continues on using local, seasonal ingredients and produce which, combined with original thinking by our chefs, is designed to please and delight.

We are keen to receive feedback and comments – good, bad or indifferent – which we can use to further refine our menu.

We hope you’ll like our changes and give us a try soon!

New Year – New Look!

Whilst the restaurant was closed throughout January we’ve undertaken quite a face lift.

Gone is the old grey flooring to be replaced with a a brand new wood tile. New lighting compliments the new feature wall. The old fashioned wall lights have been removed and the walls repainted with a light colour. The whole effect brightens the interior.

The aim is to give a unique look and feel to our restaurant and make our customer’s experience even more enjoyable.

It certainly wasn’t the first river that had eluded him on a journey, but it might be the deepest. It was time to start writing again, and singing. Tom returns to Deal for this gig on New Year’s Eve. Kit’s Coty Bacchus 2016

Introducing Kit’s Coty Estate Bacchus 2016 which Victuals is delighted to stock for its customers.

Kit’s Coty Bacchus 2016 was released following the success of it’s Kit’s Coty Chardonnay which won a Platinum Best In Class at the Decanter World Wine Awards in 2016 and then the prestige cuvée Kit’s Coty Coeur de Cuvée winning Gold at the International Wine & Spirits Competition in 2017.

Kit’s Coty wines are offered in the UK’s finest Michelin-starred restaurants, including La Gavroche, The Langham, Hand & Flowers, Sat Bains and Paris House. So it is particularly pleasing for Victuals to offer Kit’s Coty Bacchus 2016.

The Kit’s Coty vineyard is located on the North Downs of Kent where the gently sloping lime-rich chalk soils and unique micro-climate produce wines of exceptional quality. No compromises are taken in employing the highest standards of viticulture and winemaking practices to maximize the potential of the wines.

Kit’s Coty Bacchus 2016 is produced from the finest parcels of Bacchus grapes at the Kit’s Coty vineyard in Kent. The grapes were harvested by hand in late September and then whole-bunch-pressed before undergoing wild fermentation in third and fourth use French Oak barrels for nine months in order to add richness and complexity to the wine.

Chapel Down Head Winemaker, Josh Donaghay-Spire, says, “This very ripe style of Bacchus has guava, melon and peach aromas with background oak influence. The palate is pure and focussed with more tropical flavours and an exceptional length.

I have a particular affinity with the Bacchus grape variety, owing to the fact it is so well suited to the English terroir coupled with its versatility in the wine styles it can produce.”

Mark Harvey, Chapel Down Managing Director, said “Our vision has always been to produce exceptional wines from the Kit’s Coty estate; to push the boundaries of what can be achieved in this country. Right from the start of this journey, when the first fruit from the Kit’s Coty vineyard was harvested in 2010, we knew this site was capable of excellence. We are thrilled with the results and are excited to now share these wines with the market and the growing number of pilgrims of Chapel Down!”

From a food-pairing perspective, the rich fruity flavours of the wine is a perfect partner to white crabmeat salads, asparagus risotto or lightly smoked fish.

Lover’s Table

New to Victuals & Co – especially for couples in love!

Celebrating a wedding anniversary? Want to propose? Special event? Or just looking for that extra privacy? If so, when booking a table for two ask for our ‘Lover’s Table’.

Tucked away upstairs above St George’s Passage and with views to the High Street and St Georges Church, our small private area offers the most exclusive area of privacy for two people to enjoy each other’s company and fine dining in our restaurant.

Paint Job!!

Whilst we enjoyed our two week break our decorators have been busy transforming our restaurant.

The subtle use of soft greys on the walls and ceilings and a hard wearing floor paint in a darker grey has lifted the atmosphere.

We think the transformation is pleasing. And hope you, our valued customer, do as well!

Happy 40th birthday party!

We were delighted to host a 40th birthday party in our private dining room.

Clare, who arranged the event with us asked us to post a photo and message:

“Please would you set up a sister Victuals & Co next to our houses!

My friends and I would not need to cook at the weekend ever again & we would have fun, friendly, hard working, informative & passionate foodies as our neighbours in Wilmington, Kent..failing that, we will have to bide our time & see you next time we venture down to Deal.
Thank you!!

Clare & Co.”

What a wonderful way to end our summer season before heading off for our annual holidays.

See you soon!
