We’re delighted to be partnering with Kent based Simpsons English Wine Estate to introduce two amazing English wines to our customers.
Canterbury Rose Sparkling Rosé 2016
This fine English sparkling wine reflects the exquisite characteristics of their iconic, chalk terroir in the North Downs of Kent. This is the first sparkling wine to be released from the Simpsons’ outstanding inaugural harvest. Created from estate grown Pinot Noir grapes, this traditional method rosé is the essence of English taste and luxury. Delicately pink with a fine mousse and soft, rose petal and fresh strawberry sorbet nose, it has a creamy, rounded texture with crisp red berry flavours and a refined finish.
Roman Road Chardonnay 2017
The Simpsons’ Wine Estate Roman Road vineyard is situated on the sunny, sheltered slopes of the North Downs of Kent. Exuding a true sense of place, the Roman Road Chardonnay is elegant and linear, with a distinctive mineral quality that you would expect from fruit grown on these iconic chalk soils. Created from fruit carefully selected for its maturity and concentration, this single vineyard, still white wine displays aromas of honeysuckle and white melon, with smooth rich flavours of macadamia and vanilla pod.
Simpsons Wine Estate has 90 acres of vineyards situated on the sunny, sheltered slopes of the North Downs and anchored in the iconic, free-draining, chalky soils so highly revered in the world of sparkling wine. In 2016 a state-of-the-art winery was created in Barham in preparation for their first harvest and their elegant Glass House tasting room was completed during 2017, complete with a helter skelter slide.
We’re delighted to be recommended by the 2019 edition of the MICHELIN Guide Great Britain & Ireland.

Gresa Expressió 2010
This exquisite Spanish red wine comes from L’Empordà, a windswept, northern Catalan region bordering France. It consists of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache and Carignan. “Gresa” is the name given to the sandy-granitic soils the grapes are grown in.
A wonderful red wine – intense, smooth, voluminous and fruity, with polished, fresh and long tannins. Overall an elegant complex and well-balanced wine with a long finish.
Rated amongst the top 10 wines from the Empordà region.
Price: £50 for a standard bottle.
New to Victuals & Co – especially for couples in love!
Celebrating a wedding anniversary? Want to propose? Special event? Or just looking for that extra privacy? If so, when booking a table for two ask for our ‘Lover’s Table’.
Tucked away upstairs above St George’s Passage and with views to the High Street and St Georges Church, our small private area offers the most exclusive area of privacy for two people to enjoy each other’s company and fine dining in our restaurant.
Whilst we enjoyed our two week break our decorators have been busy transforming our restaurant.
The subtle use of soft greys on the walls and ceilings and a hard wearing floor paint in a darker grey has lifted the atmosphere.
We think the transformation is pleasing. And hope you, our valued customer, do as well!
We were delighted to host a 40th birthday party in our private dining room.
Clare, who arranged the event with us asked us to post a photo and message:
“Please would you set up a sister Victuals & Co next to our houses!
My friends and I would not need to cook at the weekend ever again & we would have fun, friendly, hard working, informative & passionate foodies as our neighbours in Wilmington, Kent..failing that, we will have to bide our time & see you next time we venture down to Deal.
Clare & Co.”
What a wonderful way to end our summer season before heading off for our annual holidays.
See you soon!
Victuals & Co
Our confit pork belly was a great success last week. Slow cooked pork belly was served with Black Pig croquette, smoked roots pureé, pak choi, apple and mustard greens.
The Black Pig croquette is made from potato and black pudding made by our neighbouring traditional butcher – The Black Pig.
