Kit’s Coty Bacchus 2016

Introducing Kit’s Coty Estate Bacchus 2016 which Victuals is delighted to stock for its customers.

Kit’s Coty Bacchus 2016 was released following the success of it’s Kit’s Coty Chardonnay which won a Platinum Best In Class at the Decanter World Wine Awards in 2016 and then the prestige cuvée Kit’s Coty Coeur de Cuvée winning Gold at the International Wine & Spirits Competition in 2017.

Kit’s Coty wines are offered in the UK’s finest Michelin-starred restaurants, including La Gavroche, The Langham, Hand & Flowers, Sat Bains and Paris House. So it is particularly pleasing for Victuals to offer Kit’s Coty Bacchus 2016.

The Kit’s Coty vineyard is located on the North Downs of Kent where the gently sloping lime-rich chalk soils and unique micro-climate produce wines of exceptional quality. No compromises are taken in employing the highest standards of viticulture and winemaking practices to maximize the potential of the wines.

Kit’s Coty Bacchus 2016 is produced from the finest parcels of Bacchus grapes at the Kit’s Coty vineyard in Kent. The grapes were harvested by hand in late September and then whole-bunch-pressed before undergoing wild fermentation in third and fourth use French Oak barrels for nine months in order to add richness and complexity to the wine.

Chapel Down Head Winemaker, Josh Donaghay-Spire, says, “This very ripe style of Bacchus has guava, melon and peach aromas with background oak influence. The palate is pure and focussed with more tropical flavours and an exceptional length.

I have a particular affinity with the Bacchus grape variety, owing to the fact it is so well suited to the English terroir coupled with its versatility in the wine styles it can produce.”

Mark Harvey, Chapel Down Managing Director, said “Our vision has always been to produce exceptional wines from the Kit’s Coty estate; to push the boundaries of what can be achieved in this country. Right from the start of this journey, when the first fruit from the Kit’s Coty vineyard was harvested in 2010, we knew this site was capable of excellence. We are thrilled with the results and are excited to now share these wines with the market and the growing number of pilgrims of Chapel Down!”

From a food-pairing perspective, the rich fruity flavours of the wine is a perfect partner to white crabmeat salads, asparagus risotto or lightly smoked fish.
